Michael Schmidt was born and raised in Mexico, studied at Harvard and Oxford, and established Carcanet Press, the literary publishing house, and the journal PN Review in the United Kingdom. He lives in Manchester and in Glasgow, where he is Professor of Poetry at the University. He publishes literary history, translations, fiction, anthologies and poetry.
